The SEA Scotland is the only educational Socialist Society organisation affiliated to the Scottish Labour Party and has had a long history of being a critical friend in terms of education policy. It participates in the Scottish Policy Forum and sends a delegate to Scottish Labour’s Annual Conference and has access to members of the Shadow Education Front Bench. SEA Scotland is considering various ways in which it can further contribute to the development and evaluation of Scottish Labour’s Education Policy to include consultation events such as conferences and seminars, a website, direct links with trade unions and the cooperative movement and direct links with education portfolio holders in local government.
SEA Scotland will seek to engage with the Scottish Labour Party to continue to develop and improve its education policies to ensure that Scottish Labour’s Election Manifesto fully reflects the policies emanating from the Scottish Policy Forum and based on the widest consultation with stakeholders.
SEA Scotland also wishes to contribute to the development and evaluation of future policies in line with Scottish Labour aims and values. SEA Scotland will work with a number of other organisations affiliated to the Scottish Labour Party to mobilise opinion around policy priorities for an incoming Scottish Labour Government. The SEA Scotland aims to develop policy based on research and evidence of what works in Scotland, the UK, internationally and beyond and from seeking and valuing the views of stakeholders.
